0 Question: why on our nails do we have cuticals? Asked by doddsywestham to Betul, Bridget, Ceri-Wyn, Laurel, Maria on 20 Jun 2010 in Categories: General.
Bridget Waller answered on 18 Jun 2010:
The cuticle is the bit where the nail grows from, so this is the newest bit of nail.
Ceri-Wyn Thomas answered on 18 Jun 2010:
Cuticles provide protection at the bases of our growing finger nails. That’s about as much as I know I’m afraid!
Laurel Fogarty answered on 20 Jun 2010:
The nail cuticle is a thin piece of epidermis, the outer layer of your skin. It protects the newest parts of your nails as they are growing.
