• Question: why does tears come out of our eyes?

      Excellent question – we don’t really know! Other primates make similar crying noises, but they don’t shed actual tears. We don’t know why humans do this, but it might be something to do with attracting sympathy from other people. So, the tears make you look more sad, and so increases the signal value of the facial expression.

      Tears can very useful for lubricating and cleaning the eye since eyes can be prone to dryness and having dust in them- so it’s very useful for our tear ducts to be located on the edge of our eyes.
