We communicate with vocalisations and facial expressions to show others how we are feeling – very important when we are living in social groups! I try and work out why and how we express different emotions to each other, very interesting stuff!

There are different types of tears. Sometimes we shed tears in response to getting something in our eyes or when we’re cutting onions. These tears help to clean an lubricate the eyes keeping them healthy and preventing them being scratched or from becming too dry.

Emotional tears actually contain different proteins and hormones in them to non-emotional tears! So perhaps we cry when we’re feeling very strong emotions as a means of lessening the amounts of these more harmful hormones in our bodies. So crying is probably very good for us!

I know why I do. Because I am freakishly emotional and that’s how I react to everything 🙂 (Once, I cried during a commercial, but hey, it was touchy!!)
