Carrots have the vitamin A, which is needed for healthy eyes. And if you have healthy eyes you can see better in the dark so it’s kinda of true – eating carrots can help you see in the dark. If you have too much carrots though you’re skin can turn a little orange – I’ve seen it happen πŸ™‚

I think the idea that carrots help you see in the dark is a myth actually. There are a few ideas about how it came about on the internet, most of them seem to suggest that it was a ruse by the British army in WW2 to keep their radar technology a secret- they told people they were feeding their men carrots and that’s why they could see planes in the dark… might be true!!
I’ll admit to having to look this one up though, good question!

Actually I don’t think there is any evidence that demonstrates the abilities of carrots to enable us to see in the dark. I heard somewhere that the whole “carrots help you see in the dark” thing was a myth created by the British Intelligence Corps during WWII to distract German forces from the fact that we were using Radar! I wonder if the German Intelligence men believed it???

Carrots have lots of vitamin D which is necessary for eye development etc…so there is a link there, but it is not direct!
