It is produced in your testes. Around age of 12-13 they start to produce, although not all the sperm is equal, your body is the machine that makes them – just like all the other things we have. Sounds like a magic!

In humans sperm is formed in the male testes or testicles. Inside your testicles (I’m assuming you’re a guy but forgive me if I’m wrong!) there are loads of really fine tubes that are all scrunched up- they’re called the seminiferous tubules- nice name eh? Anyway these tubules are lined with special cells called germ cells (germ in this case means a type of cell that will give rise to gametes- sperm or in girls, eggs.) These germ cells undergo a process called spermatogenesis. Basically they go from a blobby-looking cell to a sperm cell. The sperm then travel through the testicles and well……….you know the rest.

Sperm is the male gamete, and is formed in the testes. Each one contains an exact copy of half a person’s genetic material, and will not change during his lifetime!
