      Hello! That is a very hard question…because I think Ceri has done a super job and given much more informed answers than me… I know about primates and facial expression and that is pretty much it! The perils of immersing yourself in research…

      But, I think that my plans for the grant are quite exciting. If I win I will use the money to create an interactive exhibit at Marwell Zoo (near Chichester) where visitors can learn about our critically endangered monkeys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebes_Crested_Macaque) using touch screens. The visitors can also take part in touch screen experiments, and learn to do the same experiments that we are training the monkeys to do! I think it is really important for people to understand as much as they can about these wonderful animals. It helps us understand how and why we have evolved, and also helps us understand the importance of protecting these animals so that they do not go extinct.

      Here are some videos of chimpanzees using touch screens – this is what we are going to train the monkeys to do! (if it works…it depends on whether they feel like taking part…)
