No, actually I don’t. Science moves forward all the time…but that doesn’t mean we don’t get better at understanding the world every day! I don’t believe in God, but I also wouldn’t discount it if someone showed me some evidence!

Good point, but the answer is a no. If you think about it that’s where things have started. People will always ask questions and will mostly be unsatisfied and look for more. Scientific theories do change, but the basics are always the same. Can you say that gravity does not exist? Well.. maybe 100 years from now, our grandchildren will see that gravity is different than originally thought and will make fun of our ignorance. Does that change the fact that science improves and if the initial steps weren’t taken there is no way the further improvement would have occurred? No. Scientific knowledge accumulates, that is the cool thing about contributing to science.

Space science is expensive and very new (think about it, less than 50 years of space work!) and we have been here over 200,000 years. We sure have a loooong road ahead of us! Thanks for this brilliant question.

Hi tiyamikee- No I don’t think that needs to be the case. There are many things we don’t know about our universe and you’re right there are many theories currently being challenged. However, that’s one of the main purposes of science- to constantly ensure our knowledge is accurate and that our assumptions are based on the strongest possible evidence and this means we sometimes challenge our own theories and models. We may never know the absolute truth behind our universe but that doesn’t mean we need to resort to a god in order to account for what we see around us. There is a great deal of evidence to support our current theories about the universe. Also- challenging a theory doesn’t mean that it’s wrong on some levels- we are challenging our notions about gravity itself because on a quantum level (the world of particles) gravity has a few shortcomings. of course in the world that we can perceive- with big objects and long distances we would never think to challenge the notion of gravity! Our universe is a mysterious place but it is still governed by strict, unchanging laws- whether a god created those laws, science can not currently tell.
