Toothpaste contains fluoride which is absorbed into your tooth enamel to strengthen it and help your teeth to compact acidic substances that could damage the enamel. Toothpastes also contain tiny, abrasive particles that remove food particles and plaque from the teeth and gums and some brands contain (safe!) chemicals that prevent bacteria from growing and forming too much plaque!
