Technology developed as humans evolved culture and the ability to learn from each other – a good question for Laurel! 🙂

Like other Apes early humans manipulated tools and these tools became more advanced the more humans discovered about the world around them- every time a new material was found (like iron ore) and created (like iron) then more advanced tools were developed. This progressed gradually over time and with the advent of the book and much later the printing press, information about new technologies was passed around. But I guess it all started with the humble twig or stone- used to process vegetation or to cut meat- a lot like what modern primates do today!

I often find myself asking the same exact question: how did things end up the way they are now? and would it be very different if things started all over again?

The answer, will never be known for sure but human curiosity is the key for everything I think. We search, we ask, we question and together with luck our societies evolve. Technology is a main part of it, we want to make our lives easier and seems like together with the industrial revolution we figured that technology might help. Humans by nature will always look for more and I think we will see crazier things by means of technology in the future.
