• Question: how can you make alcohol from potatoes?

      Bacteria use the sugar in the potatoes to make alcohol – bacteria and yest can do that from a lot of plants.

      You can make alcohol from any source of carbohydrate (sugars and starches), you just need to ferment it, or distill it, and this makes a polymer of carbohydrate called alcohol. Most of the commercial alcoholic drinks we buy nowadays have never seen a plant, fruit or vegetable…they are made from processed sugars and starches. Interesting question! 🙂
