      Hi,

Life on Mars was definitely possible in the past when there was liquid water on the surface. As far as we know liquid water (so not in the form of ice or snow) is absolutely essential for life. There still might be some liquid water on Mars below the ice caps that have recently been found so who knows?! Maybe there’s life there waiting for us to discover it. I wouldn’t hold my breath for green little martian people though. If anything life on Mars will probably resemble our earthly bacteria.

I think most people agree that it is possible! That doesn’t mean it is there right now…but that it could exist. [Note: even so, it might just be tiny microscopic things rather than milky-white bug eyed aliens]

Yes it is very likely. That’s why Mars is on the #1 list of NASA. There is almost certain evidence that Mars’s surface and atmosphere was like our planet back in the day (I mean millions of years ago)! Also some of the amino acids (building blocks of proteins and everything else in our body) that was found in meteorites was also found in Mars’s surface. Therefore there is a strong theory that life on our earth has originated in Mars and transplanted via meteorites. Thanks.

NASA scientists recently discovered rocks on Mars really similar to some that we have on Earth that relied on water for their formation. Water is vital to life as we know it so it might be possible that there was once very early signs of life on Mars, there could be bacteria lurking out there on Mars but we haven’t found them yet.
