I work with a large international team – I have colleagues in the USA, Germany, The Netherlands, the Dominican Republic and other parts of the UK. We all have different skills and expertise, so it works really well!
I work with three supervisors who help me if I get stuck and a lab group made up of people working on lots of different projects- but they also help me when I get stuck. I do my project work alone but there’s always company if I get lonely in the lab!
Currently I mostly work on my own, although I constantly talk to my supervisors and other people about my work. I did part of my project in Australia, where I got to see amazing numbers of kangaroos and koalas and also work in an incredible modern lab with great labmates – that was a fantastic part of my PhD experience.
I work in a team with other people in my lab and people from around the world (mostly America and Sweden) who work on the same things that I do. I think most science is done in teams now, which is very different from the days when Darwin or Newton were working.
