The million dollar question! The Earth’s climate changes over millions of years due to changes in the configuration of its continents, changes in Earth’s orbit, changes in the suns behaviour etc and that type of climate change is inevitable and can not be stopped since it’s a natural part of the planetary system. However! I think we can certainly reduce the amount of anthropogenic (human induced) global warming. We release a great deal of CO2- one of the main greenhouse gases- into the atmosphere and we can reduce this in a number of ways: One really promising way is called Carbon Capture and Storage- where industrial CO2 waste is captured and transported into unused oil reservoirs. This traps the CO2 and prevents it from escaping back into the atmosphere. Scientists are currently working on it! We can also reduce our own emissions- taking the bus or walking, using less energy around our homes and trying to find ways of making industrial processes much more ‘green’ (the job of today’s and tomorrow’s scientists!).

We can stop global warming but only for a limited period of time. If we keep going the way we are going for too much longer we will pass a tipping point after that there’s no going back.

For now we need renewable energy sources first and foremost I think.

I truly hope so! Hopefully through cutting carbon emissions by burning less fossil fuel. Basically, we need to find alternative sources of energy to oil, gas and coal, such as wind power, solar power, wave power….and nuclear power may be an option too.
