• Question: if smoking is so bad why did they invent it

      I think as a species we always do dangerous things…if something feels good at the time we don’t really think about the consequences! I guess that one day someone thought they would like to know what it felt like to inhale smoke. We like exploring things!

      What a brilliant question! This is why I love young people! Simple, precise points 🙂 Unfortunately that’s not the way industrially rolling capital world works, hon. People do invent things, knowing it would kill thousands but still don’t really care because it is making them rich or win (think about all the weapons and bombs and dangerous drugs!) It is our responsibility to know and take action, that’s the only way that will stop the madness production of harmful chemicals that make us think they are good, but they are nothing but silent enemies.

      I don’t think cigarette manufacturers realised smoking was so bad and potentially life-threatening when people first started to use tobacco. However- we’ve always known certain things are bad for us- alcohol can cause terrible damage to your liver and yet most of us still consume it regularly. We know the dangers of drugs too and yet we still take those. For some reason some of us have an innate desire to do things that are bad for us. Silly I know, but that’s life!
